Fifteen partners from the automotive and supply industries, universities and research institutes have set up the @CITY collaborative project. During their four-year research project stretching until mid-2022, they have been developing and testing new concepts, technologies and prototype applications for automated driving in the city. The work is being supported by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy. The focus is on driving through narrow points, at complex crossways and roundabouts, and the interaction between automated systems and drivers and other road users – especially pedestrians and cyclists.
