Cooperative, Connected & Automated Mobility

5G network capabilities will highly support the connected vehicle on the way to autonomous driving. Already today, over 70% o all produced vehicles are equipped with cellular connectivity, growing to 100% i the next years. On the way to 5G, advanced network capabilities will be provided to support automotive use cases with different quality demands. Those with high quality requirements, e.g. Teleoperated driving or hazard warnings, will be operated with highest priority. Edge computing supports applications depending on low latency and high availability, such as collision warnings, time-to-green and traffic light preemption services. Precise positioning helps to significantly improve the accuracy of positioning and provides additional integrity mechanisms to increase functional safety.
